Tut #4 - Belle
 to
Program: Photoshop Elements 5.0
Level: You should have basic knowledge
It does have levels, so I'm not sure if its translatable

First prepare your base. I'm using this:

Duplicate the base, bring it to the top and set it to soft light.

Make a new layer and fill it with #d0f7fb. It should be a light blue. Set this layer to color burn.

This is the little trick I use on almost all of my icons. Make a new layer, bring it to the top and set it to luminosity.

Make a layer of levels ( Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Levels) . Set the the little arrow on the right side up to where the black lines start. DO NOT GO PAST THE BLACK LINES. Do this to every setting in the drop down menu (circled). If the black lines go all the way up to the edge on the right side, don't move the arrow.
  ->

Duplicate the base, bring it to the top. Blur the layer using the guassian blur. (Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian blur) That way the icon will look softer. Set this layer to softlight.

Up the saturation (Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Hue/Saturation) to +23 and your all done!

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME ICON. THIS TUTORIAL WAS NOT MADE SO THAT THERE WILL BE A BILLION IDENTICAL BELLE ICONS. Thanks. :)

ooooh! I LOVE it. that was an absolutely gorgeous icon. i never knew you used elements too! I do, I like it but no curves of selective coloring. which is sad.

I have a question. I'm using PSP 9 and my levels don't have those crazy line thingys, and I was wondering if there's anyway that I could possibly achieve the same result anyway? Maybe? Hopefully?

Running... I'm trying, but with the puppy I'm just soooo busy. I have been going on nice long walks with my pup.
Good luck with your running... ;)
